EQ³ Maths Probability is a free interactive learning platform for UK secondary school students studying probability at Key Stage 3 (KS3), GCSE Foundation tier, and GCSE Higher tier. The platform combines a digital workbook, 150+ practice questions across five exam-style papers, an adaptive AI tutor called the Thinking Coach, and immersive 3D visualisations that make abstract probability concepts concrete and intuitive.
Our probability curriculum follows the UK national curriculum and AQA, Edexcel, and OCR GCSE specifications. Topics include: the probability scale and probability words, calculating simple probability, sample space diagrams and listing outcomes, two-way tables, relative frequency and experimental probability, theoretical probability, the probability of an event not happening, mutually exclusive events, independent events, conditional probability, tree diagrams (basic and harder), Venn diagrams and set notation (two-set and three-set), expected outcomes, frequency trees, combined events, and probability word problems. Higher-tier content extends to harder tree diagrams, the conditional probability formula, three-set Venn diagrams, and probability from Venn diagrams.
Content automatically adapts to the student's selected stage: KS3 (ages 11–14) uses concrete examples and visual scaffolding; GCSE Foundation focuses on the core curriculum with worked examples; GCSE Higher includes extension topics, exam-style problem solving, and conditional probability formulas. Students can switch tiers at any time through the Stage Selector.
The Explore menu provides interactive 2D and 3D visualisations including probability spinners, physics-based 3D dice, sample space tables, Venn diagram drag-and-drop builders, tree diagram builders, binomial distribution graphs, normal distribution bell curves, 3D Venn spheres, and 3D probability trees. Every 3D visualisation has a 2D fallback for iOS Safari and lower-end devices, and selected visuals also support augmented reality (AR) on supported phones.
The built-in AI tutor offers Explain Like I'm 10 (ELI10) plain-English explanations, scaffolded hints that guide students step-by-step without giving away the answer, and post-test analysis that identifies misconceptions and recommends next topics. The Thinking Coach follows the Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) pedagogical progression used by maths education researchers.
EQ³ Maths is built for accessibility. Features include dyslexia-friendly fonts (OpenDyslexic), adjustable line spacing and letter spacing, colour-blind modes (deuteranopia, protanopia, tritanopia), high-contrast dark mode, text-to-speech for every page, keyboard shortcuts, and a focus mode that reduces visual distraction. The platform is fully responsive and works on phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and desktops.
Teachers and parents can print full KS3 and GCSE probability workbooks directly from the site. Students can sign in to track progress, bookmark pages, earn achievements, and access the Student Hub for personalised dashboards. The platform is also available as a Kindle book for offline study.
EQ³ Maths builds interactive maths learning tools for UK Key Stage 3 and GCSE students, with a focus on visual learning, accessibility, and the CRA pedagogical method. Visit the home page to start the workbook or open the Explore menu to jump straight to a 3D visualisation.
